So What? Zenani’s New Hit Is Only the Beginning

For Zenani, music has always been more than just sound it’s been a lifeline, a form of healing, and a way to speak her truth. From talent shows in school to singing in a high school a cappella group, her love for music started early. But it wasn’t until after college that she truly gave herself permission to pursue it as a career. And once she did, she never looked back.

The past few years have been a defining period for Zenani.

Balancing real life jobs, independence, and the everyday grind while chasing a music dream hasn’t been easy. But 2024 marked a turning point. She went from dipping her toes in the water to fully diving into her artistry.

t first, she didn’t even think she’d write her own songs. But when it came down to it, singing someone else’s words didn’t feel right. So she started writing and discovered a deep love for storytelling. With the help of producers and beatmakers, she stepped into the creative process and found a passion for building songs from scratch. Music became her therapy. Her lyrics, rooted in real experiences, are spontaneous, honest, and deeply human.

Influenced by R&B and traditional African music, Zenani’s sound is a fusion of heart and heritage. Raised in Cameroon and now based in the U.S., her music bridges worlds. Her goal? To inspire people to embrace their imperfections, be their authentic selves, and feel less alone.

“I’m someone who embraces and perfection to the fullest and I think that everybody needs that it’s free” she says

Zenani’s latest single, “So What,” is a testament to that. In just six days, it racked up over 18,000 streams on Apple Music going from 10K to 18K literally overnight. It’s her proudest moment to date, and it’s only the beginning.

She dreams of collaborating with artists like Tiwa Savage, Jordan Smith, and other women shaping the R&B and Afrobeats scene across Africa and the UK. And eventually, she sees her music taking her back to Cameroon her roots, her home, her source. Outside of music, Zenani is all about vibes. She loves food, travel, fashion, and doing “girly things” like hair, nails, and shopping. But music remains the heart of it all.

Her advice for anyone chasing a dream is to just keep going.

“There were so many times I could have quit and I just kept going.”

If Zenani’s journey tells us anything, it’s that persistence, authenticity, and heart go a long way and that when you trust your voice, the world will listen.
